As leaders and proponents of an activity which is regarded as educational but also competitive, we seek to find a balance between hiding our "play book" and sharing it with other coaches/teams.  However, here are some resources our membership has thought important to share:

During CTAM, Proposals 1, 2, and 4 (click here for slide presentation) were endorsed and forwarded to the Advisory Committee for further study.  Of note: Proposal 1 was amended to remove the 'draw straws' option for resolving prelim ties.

MSHSL Duo Rules Change At the MSCA meeting in September 2007 in Rochester, a motion was passed to support a change in the rules regarding the Duo Interpretation event. The motion passed unanimously and will be implemented for the 2008 Subsection, Section and State Tournaments.
 
Financial Support for MN Speech Teams wanting to GROW! The Minnesota Speech Coaches Association is excited to offer an opportunity to help "Grow Speech" in Minnesota.  MSCA has funds available to help financially strapped programs and coaches.  If you are a coach (or know of a coach) who can't attend CTAM because of district financial restraints, consider completing an application and mailing it to MSCA President Cheryl Neidt for MSCA executive committee approval.  These funds may also be available for needs other than coach development.

 
Mentorship Program! If you are a new or inexperienced Speech coach in Minnesota, and would like to be partnered with a more experienced Speech Mentor, please complete the contact form. A Speech Mentor can answer your questions about category rules, finding competitive pieces, securing judges, attending tournaments, and more.
